Promotion Parade

Plymouth Argyle will get an open top bus parade around the city, following the club’s spectacular promotion from League Two.

Plymouth will lay out the green carpet for the team on Monday, May 8, and the parade will run from Home Park to the city centre.

Fans will be able to greet the Pilgrims along the route of the bus ride, as well as when the players are presented on the Council House balcony during a civic reception for the team.

And the evening of celebration will continue after the reception, with Argyle staging a party for players, staff, guests and members of the Green Army at Plymouth Pavilions.

The bus tour will leave Home Park at 6pm and head into the city centre via Alma Road, North Cross Roundabout and Western Approach, before turning left into Union Street, around Derry’s Cross and up and down Royal Parade, where thousands of the Green Army are expected to welcome their heroes.

Argyle manager Derek Adams said: “We are extremely proud that the club’s achievements are being honoured by Britain’s Ocean City, and delighted that Plymouth City Council have made sure that everyone can share in the celebrations.”

Fans went crazy on Easter Monday as Argyle clinched promotion with a heroic 6-1 victory over Newport County.

It was their biggest league win since 2004 and the club’s first promotion for 13 years.

The three buses taking part in the parade will be parked up at Home Park from 3pm and fans are invited to take flags and banners to the ground to dress up the vehicles from noon onwards.

The club says it will make every effort to reunite the flags with their owners following the event, although that cannot be guaranteed.

The balcony presentation will take place at Council House at about 6.30pm.

Princess Street will be closed between the Council House and Plymouth Crown Court from 5pm to 8pm on the day, as will the stretch of Armada Way in front of the court and Plymouth Guildhall.

Royal Parade will remain open throughout.
