Summer 2015 Newsletter

Welcome From PADSA Chairperson Barry Hendy
Firstly I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to the PADSA. Committee for the tireless effort in making this association “take off” over the past season. We have truly achieved much over last season and in the summer months preparing for the season that is now upon us.
Having purchased Radar locks and keys for the disabled toilets, enabling our disabled and members and all other disabled members access to these facilities. Keys are available at £2.50 each from the AFT gazebo on home games and our contact point inside the Lyndhurst stand at block 11.
We have financed the servicing and replacement parts of the soccer sight equipment that is used by our visual impaired supporters. There are 10 sets available on match days for home and away fans to borrow.
Suit case Ramp which will available at the tribute lounge for wheelchairs users. We will also use if we need to if we are away from home park.
Customer Care DAA kits which kit consists of several sizes of sheet magnifiers for the partially sighted, pens with grips for the arthritic and also cheque and credit card blanks to aid the partially sighted when signing for goods. Please ask if you need to use them or if you may have forgotten your glasses. They will be situated in the reception, booking office, shop and in the tribute lounge behind the bar.
We have a list of items which we hope to buy that will help enhance the match day experience. If you have an ideas please let us know.
PADSA welcomes the appointment of Dereck Adams, new players and staff.

Argyle Display
We often read how the times have changed with the ongoing technology of today. Due to the world of Twitter the disabled enclosure was included in the display for the home leg of the playoffs against Wycombe.
The secretary had tweeted and within seconds this area was included in to what was to become one of the most memorable games at the theatre of dreams .The stadium looked fantastic with display and the atmosphere was electric at times. We like to thank the volunteers who made this happen by setting it all up.
Argyle Fan Trust
After meeting with the new AFT Chair Bob Foale we are delighted to be working along the trust to help raise PADSA profile. You will find a PADSA committee member at the trust gazebo on home games. If you have any enquires please do come see us
We will also be writing regularly in the fanzine magazine. You can see our article on page 23 of the current No 6 issue.
Enclosed is a very special offer for PADSA members from the AFT. We hope you may take up on the kind offer and thanks to them. The form can be brought to the AGM and it will be passed on to them.

Carl McHugh
We are delighted to say we are sponsoring him again for the home and away kit season 2015 / 2016 He is shirt number 4.
We believe the secretary did a good choice in picking this player as he certainly had a very good 1st season with the club. He has become a favourite among the fans too. He played in 50 games for the season scoring in the capital 1 cup on the 12th August 2014 against Leyton Orient, against Burton on the 3rd April and Mansfield on the 11th April. He had 7 yellow cards He received a score of 10 from Chris Errington of the herald sport from the Shrewsbury Town game. We look forward to watching his progress in what could be a very exciting season.
Player of the Season 2014 to 2015
The committee were delighted to present the PADSA Shield for the 2nd year to Luke McCormick on the 12th May 2015. He won the overall vote with Carl McHugh coming in 2nd.

Level Playing Fields (Charity For Disabled Spectators)
Much has been in the publicity in the press around the issue of disabled people attending sporting venues which of course includes football stadiums. Level playing fields has been promoting the needs of disabled supporters and their families / carers for many years. PADSA is a member of this organisation.
We have followed the issues that have been on agendas at annual meetings of the FA, FIFA, CAFE and the debate at the on the 17th July 2015 the House of Lords debated the Accessible Sports Grounds Bill.
The debate can be seen online the parliament tv or Level playing field charity website www.levelplaying
Would a wheelchair platform be a project that could be achieved?
Another way is tell us your experience when you go away to other clubs. Level playing field has a comment box for you to add comments. We look at these to see how we may be able to improve.
We have meet representatives from the Portsmouth and Newport Disabled Supporters Association before the home games. We are working together to help improve issues for fans may have.
